Weatherization

Weatherization can be defined as the practice of protecting a home or building and its interior from the elements – particularly from humidity, precipitation, wind and sunlight – by modifying the home or building to reduce energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency.

In new construction, proper weatherization can be achieved by installing energy efficient windows and doors, by using an air impermeable foam sealant around windows and doors, by installing a closed crawl space assembly and by using a high-performance, air impermeable open cell or closed cell spray foam insulation throughout the structure.

In retro-fit applications, proper weatherization can be achieved by replacing windows and doors, by re-insulating with high-performance, air impermeable open cell or closed cell spray foam insulation and by installing a closed crawl space assembly.
